As April approaches, football fans across the globe has only one thing to talk about – the release date of the upcoming FIFA series. And this year, the scene is no different. As per EA sports’ confirmation to Sportskeeda, the game will see the light of the day in fall this year, to be specific on September 26, 2017.
It is expected that the FIFA series will release primarily on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch very little clarity over its future on the PS 3 platform.
The game will include as many as three new leagues with Chinese Super League (CSL) already confirmed as the recent entrant. Whether EA Sports includes high-end transfer kitties for those teams, only remains to be seen.
As per sources, even the German third division could be included due to popular demand. The game will be priced at 49 British Pounds, which is the same as its previous iteration.
FIFA 15 was released on a Tuesday, which was September 23, 2014. FIFA 16 was released on another Tuesday, September 26, and then FIFA 17 on September 27, again a Tuesday. So, all these leads to the speculation of the FIFA 18 to get a release on September 26, which is a Tuesday.
FIFA 18 has the potential to bypass last-gen altogether as more and more gamers upgrade to current gen consoles. Blake Jorgensen, EA CFO, said that the publisher will continue to release titles foe last generation consoles until 2017 at the Stifel 2013 Technology Conference. Although he put emphasis on the fact that it would be the ‘earliest’ the company would drop support for Xbox 360 and PS#, but the speculations are hinting to FIFA 18 being a current-gen/PC exclusive.
The previous installment, FIFA 17 was parred down for Xbox 360 and PS 3 since the hardwares were not able to use the newer Forstbite technology. IT was also the first game to be powered by Frostbite, which in itself replaced Ignite from the previous year.
Although graphics took a noticeable boost this year, facial expressions and player animations, primarily among them, FIFA 18 will incorporate more subtle and nuanced improvements as it will eventually run on Frostbite 4 engine.
Users of PS4 and PC will have the advantage of receiving the best looking versions of the game.
FIFA 17 has received criticisms from critics for various aspects of gameplay, and the same will likely remain in FIFA 18, as it will be powered by the same engine. Among the negative aspects, Input delay, claims of “EAids” and “Scripting” are primary.
